Hump Day Inspiration: Quinn Deveaux & Eli’s Mile High Club

May 18, 2011

A little while ago I had the great pleasure of being an extra in a music video, and it’s finally complete! Quinn DeVeaux & the Blue Beat Review are an amazing local blues act who pay homage to a bygone era, and the music video for the song ‘Good News’ certainly captures that. The video was done by the dynamic Brooklyn duo that make up Shot & Cut Productions and was filmed completely on 8mm film at Eli’s Mile High Club. Now somewhat of a crusty punk dive, Eli’s was once a jumping blues joint. Apparently its first owner, Eli Thornton, was shot by his mistress – a Blues singer – while he was tending bar in 1979. Anyways, I get a 2 second bit about 20 seconds in, check it out!
