A Heartbeat and a Guitar

November 4, 2009
by

What do Johnny Cash, Shepard Fairey and the Make-out Room have in common? On Thursday night, it will be the celebration of a recent tome about Bitter Tears, Cash’s pre-fame album. Folk in the purest sense of the word, Bitter Tears recounts the plight of the Native American and a Heartbeat and a Guitar is aimed at recording Cash’s struggle against the censorship and backlash surrounding that album.

With readings by the author, anecdotes and performances by local groups Yard Sale, Tiny Television and Billy and Dolly, the night is sure to be an uplifting hoe-down and a rollicking good time. Tickets are available here. Show starts at 7, 21+.
