New Favorite Restaurant: The Front Porch

Corn bread, seafood gumbo, fried chicken…. just a sampling of the modern southern cuisine offered at the Front Porch in the Outer Mission, which I had the extreme pleasure of revisiting last night. With rocking chairs out front and live bayou-riffic music inside, it’s a place where one can easily fall into a sleepy, comfortable stupor not often attained in the bustle of the city. A pressed ‘tin’ ceiling and giant antique cash register behind the bar add to the vintage glamour that comes almost as a surprise with the decadent flavors of my personal favorite dish- the seemingly unglamorous shrimp and grits. Additionally, vegan dishes are available and if there happens to be a wait then they’ll happily phone you at the 3300 Club, up the street, so you can relax and enjoy a drink in the meantime. Cheers to that.
