Monthly Art Attack

April 30, 2009

So it’s the end of April and the first week of May, and thus another installment of the all-you-can-buffet of art to gorge yourself on. Here’s the top spots where you’ll most likely find me:

9th Annual Benefit Art Sale from 6-9pm at 21 Grand, Oakland. Click on the link to see a preview. Sales continue through the weekend!

Then, after this and the other Art Murmurings, there’s a sweet looking afterparty at the Den at Fox Theater, where Jason Munn and Lil Tuffy posters will be on sale. Drink specials with no cover charge- go to East Bay Express for more info!

The weekend continues with the 18th Annual Open Studios at Hunters Point Shipyard, which I’m stoked for since I missed out on the recent Mission District Open Studios. Open both Saturday and Sunday from 11-6, with some tasty sounding organic dim sum. Go to the site to see more info, awesome samples and links of the artists’ work, and photos.

Perhaps what I should be making the biggest deal about, though, is the show opening this weekend at San Francisco’s Needles + Pens, curated by Meighan O’Toole of contemporary art blog My Love For You is a Stampede of Horses. The show’s called You’ve Got Light in Your Eyes and features a group of well known artists including BAB-loved Know Hope. The show’s opening reception will be held this Saturday, May 2nd from 6-9:30 pm and will continue to run through June 28th. That’s a lotta name-droppage, so I suggest you check out some of these links and get in the know!
