San Jose City Hall

April 7, 2009

Man, I have so many things to write about and not nearly enough time! Just posted some pics on flickr if you’re interested in getting a visual sneak peek… write-ups to come soon. In the mean time, I’ll post some pics from where I was yesterday: racing against the clock to hand deliver some proposals all the way down at San Jose City Hall, which was surprisingly cool.

Completed in 2005 by celebrity architect Richard Meier, the new City Hall features an 8-story glass rotunda which serves as the focal point of a large plaza and main gathering space for public events and large galas. Known for his all-white, modern aesthetic Richard Meier has been around for 40 years and is responsible for other well known spaces such as LA’s hilltop Getty Museum, which looks like something out of Gattaca, and even a proposed design for the World Trade Center. Kinda funny to see this amid the NY-based architect’s extensive, international portfolio. So, good job, San Jose!
