Another Reason Why Berkeley Rocks: Fish House

March 25, 2009

Thanks once again to Nina, who always seems to have an endless supply of neat things to show me, for telling me about this bizarre little home that’s within walking distance of our office:

A tiny little bungalow on an unassuming street, the fish-like house is more formerly known as the Tsui House. At 2,000 SF and costing $250,000 the Tsui House was inspired by the Tardigrade– a strange microscopic 8 legged creature- and is dubbed the world’s safest home. You can check out interior shots and read all about the building’s innovative structure at Tsui Design & Research, and be sure to check out Tsui’s other endeavors- like his clothing and furniture prototypes… you will not be disapointed. If you want to take sneaky drive-by shots in person, the approximate address is 2748 Mathews St, Berkeley.

Check out some of the other rad retro-future homes built by Tsui:

The Watsu School at Harbin Hot Springs, Middletown
(Watsu is a form of therapeutic massage administered in a pool- sound nice!)

Gotta love living in Berzerkly. In the mood to watch Sleeper, much?
