Design San Francisco
February 4-6, 2009
San Francisco Design Center
Two and 101 Henry Adams Street

Formerly known as Winter Market, Design San Francisco is an annual set of events held at the gorgeous and impressive Design Center and aims to highlight local talent- including designers, products, projects and more. Attendees get the privilege of viewing new collection launches and attending keynote presentations and showroom events. Hot topics include sustainability, luxury and the fusion of residential and hospitality design. Click here to download a brochure with all the goings-on!

I’ll be attending Thursday, the 5th, so hopefully I’ll be able to see some great stuff. I’m excited to get a sneak peek at some of the showrooms, which are often closed to the public. Here’s some event highlights for that day which are catching my eye:

Trendy vs. Timeless: 3-4pm
Sloan Miyasato, Showplace 200

Top San Francisco designers Melanie Coddington, Ken Fulk and Shane Reilly share their thoughts on timeless interiors and current trends. The lively group of opinionated designers takes on recent trends ranging from Moroccan chic to Baroque wallpaper and give advice on when to embrace or avoid them. Moderated by Sarah Lynch, Executive Editor, California Home + Design magazine. * Reception to follow.

European Classics Meet Bay Area Modern, 4-7 pm
Provasi, Showplace 401

Join in a celebration of fine Italian classic furniture complimented by contemporary artwork from local artists. * Champagne reception with light hors d’oeuvres will be served. RSVP to tasha@provasi.com

JANUS et Cie Cocktail Reception, 5-8 pm
JANUS et Cie, Showplace 195

Join JANUS et Cie for an exclusive cocktail reception and be among the first to preview their newest interior and exterior collections of elegant furnishings, textiles, lighting and accessories. * Cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and fine art exhibit by Eric Engstrom. RSVP 877-601-0371 or sf@janusetcie.com.

(I had to include a photo of the Janus et Cie showroom, I love it!)

Also, for anyone interested in starting a career in design, this comes highly recommended:
