Relish at Home

November 12, 2008

I’m not much of a jewelry fan, but the other day I splurged on some goodies at a tiny little boutique here in Emeryville, called Relish at Home. Much like the aforementioned bar scene, Emeryville has a seriously under served market for retail therapy, what with the overpowering presence of Bay Street and the Mighty Ikea and all…. So, needless to say, it was quite refreshing to discover this little hole in the wall only minutes from my office! With an emphasis on all-local jewelry makers and home decor artisans, I will certainly be supporting this mom-and-pop shop and its wares, and plan on returning for most of my holiday shopping…

Here’s a highlight of the two jewelry makers who earned my investment:

Anna Andersson Designs
I really enjoy how bold and edgy her stuff is via simplicity and texture- can you tell her work is influenced by Scandinavian design?

“Black Eye Stud” -Oxidized sterling silver. Yep. Minimalist, just the way I like. Already getting compliments! Here’s some other eye-catching pieces:

“Double Ginko Leaf” Sterling Silver

“Boat Ring” Sterling/Oxidized Sterling

Cara Lyndon Designs
All made from found vintage pieces, glass, and buttons! Eat your heart out, hipster girls.

Black Rose vintage post earrings. Can you tell that I go for ones that look like plugs? Here’s some other choice selections:

Red Oval Flowers

Coral Ridges Ring

Cufflinks! Perfect for your dashing days, all you dapper guys out there…

If you’re in the area, definitely check it out. The best part about Relish at Home and its vendors is that everything is close by and extremely personalized- if you’re looking for a specific piece they will gladly take your information and make sure you get it asap, since the tiny space is restocked on a nearly weekly basis. And that kind of service, my friends, is something you’ll be hardpressed to find on Bay Street…
