Currently Obsessed With: Obama Art

November 10, 2008

Sundays are great for running errands- and this Sunday was dedicated to buying some simple frames from Ikea and rearranging the artwork in my entryway. What for? To make room for a newly acquired piece- a silk screened Obama poster from San Francisco artist, Rene Garcia Jr! Now that it’s official Mr. Obama will take soon take his place in the oval office, I similarly felt I should give this piece its official place in my home. I apologize for the poor camera-phone picture quality, here is a better image for your enjoyment:

Image found from the SF Weekly blog. And, as the articles explains, a few friends and I picked up these limited edition prints at the newly opened Project One while barhopping Halloween night. Newly opened in the Portrero Hill nabe, this nifty little spot is half bar/lounge, half art gallery. Among the pieces being perused by costumed patrons, the stand-outs were certainly Garcia’s glittering goliaths.

This local talent is certainly one not to be missed, and I’m proud to show my support for both him and our new President-elect simultaneously! Check out this awesome pic on Garcia’s blog: I Love This World.
